The plot focuses on four women and their daughters. All of them are Americans of Chinese descent. The women were born in China, but their daughters were born in the United States. Looking at these families, the reader will be able to see how life is changing in a new country. How one can maintain his or her own original culture, being thousands of kilometres away from your homeland.
